The primary objective of this course is to expose the staff, contractors, and partners of USAID, the State Department, and others in the international development community to the following methods:
1.) Literature Review
2.) Mini-Surveys
3.) Focus Group Discussions
4.) Key Informant Interviews
5.) Direct Observation Methods.
The course provides an overview and understanding of the characteristics, strengths, and limitations of each of the five methods, as well as how each method is best used. It ends with a lesson on constructing evaluation reports to answer priority evaluation questions with the data generated by rapid data collection methods.
