Examiner Certification and Training Development

C² is working with SEC to develop and implement a training and certification program for Examiners in the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations (OCIE). As part of this effort, the project team conducted a rigorous job analysis of the Examiner occupation and investigated training needs by establishing proficiency requirements, identifying the developmental obstacles and challenges, and recommending strategies to restructure the SEC training curricula. The team then began the development of certifications by preparing a framework that depicted notional career paths and aligned certification assessments to career development levels. Next, the team developed a certification blueprint for the Core Certification Examination—which will be required of all first-year Examiners. The blueprint will be used to guide the development of the examination, which subsequently will be piloted, refined, and implemented within OCIE.
